Zenner Family Farm - Russ Zenner

The Hummus love story started when Chris Zenner, a farm boy from Idaho, went to Miami, Florida for his Masters in Sports Administration. Janine, Jamaican born of Lebanese descent, was raised in Miami and worked as a graduate in accounting for the company Chris interned with, Miami Arena Football. After their fun filled, summer love affair they moved to Idaho, got married, and had three wonderful sons. Janine's mom, Mimo Zacca, was the first to start making their family hummus recipe with the Zenner’s farm-raised garbanzo beans that Chris’s mom, Kathy shipped to her every Christmas. As all great Lebanese moms do, Mimo insisted Janine do the same. And as all great Lebanese daughters do, Janine argued that her own recipe was already perfect because all her friends said so! It was when Mimo said,[insert Lebanese accent] "Well, that's ok Janine, they don't know what perfect is!" that Janine changed her recipe, and Zacca Hummus was born.

Zacca Hummus sources its chickpeas from the Zenner Family farm in Genesee, Idaho. Our specialty beans are identity preserved and can be traced directly back to the fields they were grown. Chris’s father, Russ Zenner, recently retired and transitioned the farm to relatives, Clint and Alecia Zenner, making it a fourth-generation operation. The Zenner Family farm is certified in sustainable farming, produces approximately 1 1/2-2 million pounds of chickpeas annually, while rotating over 5,000 acres of other diversified crops. Since entering the Boise markets in 2012, Zacca Hummus has grown its retail line in several states and multiple foodservice distributors throughout the Pacific NW region. In 2019, Zacca Hummus partnered with Devanco Foods, a national manufacturer of Mediterranean foods with over 100+ years of collective experience in the manufacturing and marketing of the highest quality products. As a new partner of Devanco Foods, Zacca Hummus will be expanding in retail and foodservice nationwide. Janine and Chris reside in Boise, Idaho, with their three sons, Zaccary, Nicklaus, and Wade. Welcome to our Family and thank you for sharing the Hummus Love!
